Judyth Mermelstein has a good point, and that is it will be harder
for SurvPCs of today to read the current PDF files - even with a
reader that can work on their OS.. which brings me to the following
idea: how about making a PDF stripper? Much like an HTML stripper
that can take an HTML file and convert it into a text file by
removing the tags and adjusting the output text page to look like
the original HTML according to the tags that have been removed,
why not make a PDF stripper that will remove some of the more
problematic items from the file, yet keep the same shape of the
original? removeable objects, for example, can be the WAV files,
and hi-color color maps that can be reduced to 256 colors and
so on. This is not the best solution availble, especialy because
of the "look the same everywhere" philosophy, however this is an
option.
