Hello Everyone,

First, my apologies to those here who are also members of the
Arachne list, for whom this will be a repeat - but I'd like
some other input on this problem, some fresh opinions as it
were....

I use the Arachne browser, which is a beta. Up until recently
(Arachne versions 1.50b and 1.5b2) I never had a problem like
this with Arachne. This app is written in C.

Background:
My OS is Calders DR-OpenDOS 7.02
Processor is Pentium 75
Memory 16 meg
I run Arachne on a 6 meg RAM disk.

Recently I discovered a lot of lost chains and clusters. So I
eventually ended up running CHKDSK at boot, and before and after
every running every program. This let me know for sure that it
is Arachne that's causing this problem. Saving them to files
and looking at them shows references to Arachne files and
processes. To make the problem even more vexing, it is
intermittent, it doesn't happen every time I run Arachne, just
sometimes. It doesn't seem to matter what I do or don't do
with Arachne, mail or not, load images or not, etc.

Note- I have also checked and rechecked for virus with both
Norton's AntiVirus and Fprot. I have checked and re-checked the
drive, including surface test, FAT, file structure, etc with
Norton's and it finds no problems.

Any and all ideas and theories on what could be causing this
problem are welcome, short of aliens and cosmic rays. Although
I am thinking of getting out the incense and candles, reciting
magical incantations, and making supplications to Murphy. If
that doesn't work maybe I will try threatening to turn my PC into
a microwave or a coffee maker...

Boanne :)
