I have this exact computer that I am using now. My battery is also
stuffed, and I was thinking about going to a battery place to
rejuvenate it. Meanwhile I've just been using the AC adaptor.
You can boot from the PCMCIA floppy drive, and you don't need the
PCMCIA drivers to use it; but only if it was plugged in on bootup,
and not unplugged while in use.
When using F-Prot, however, you have to type 'f-prot /nofloppy'
otherwise it will complain about being no floppy drive defined in
CMOS. And Arachne can't see the A: either. But most other things can.
PS:
As I was typing this, the AC adaptor started buzzing, on and off for
about 5 minutes. It must have been taking some current, since it got
quite warm and the desk light went dim. But it has now stopped.
I just dunno!
Also, the hinge in the lid is broken, so I have to prop it up with a
disk box, or against the wall. Its really annoying. It totally broke
when I replaced the video cable.
