   Hi Stephen:

   I would suspect that perhaps some of the memory chips required for
   loading Windoze are somewhat unstable and get glitchy until they are
   completely warmed up.  The loading and running of DOS does not require
   as much memory.

   Suggestion to test my hypothesis:

   1.  When you first turn on your computer in DOS mode, perform a very
   thorough memory check by using a good DOS program designed for this
   purpose.

   2.  Without re-booting your computer, perform the same test again and
   again at intervals.  Do the results improve over time?
