I'm pretty sure now that the cards and hub are not compatible. I will
return to where the hub and cable came from and see if I can get the cards
and some more terminators. He's got chaos in the place and if I just want
to sift through I'm welcome to the stuff.

yeah, not there, so I think indeed I've not got ARCnet cards.
Look around, but that has got to be a balun. Used to simplify cabling and

What lil' transformer? No sign of one visibly in there.

Nope

Well, someone mentioned that it might melt the cable to try and put the two
types together. I'll wait and see what level of stuff I can come up
with. My main machine won't allow two nics so I need a hub in order to use
the internet that comes in on an ethernet NIC... It's a bit messy, yep. i
was going to set the other 486 as a server on the ethernet internet NIC and
then have it serve to the hub and other machines, also do proxy, telephone
incoming, and print server. This will mean rearranging the furniture, a
very major project, so I'm not touching anything till I at least know I've
got all the right hardware.
Thankyou for the ID on the cards, saved me some time again!
I'll keep at this slowly, there's no rush to turn my whole house upside
down trying to get all the hardware located comfortably without having
wires criss-crossing everywhere.
