No no no no no no NO! OUTLOOK. Not Outlook Express. OUTLOOK EXPRESS
CANNOT BE CONTROLLED IN THE SAME WAY AS OUTLOOK CAN, SO CANNOT BE USED TO
AUTOMATICALLY SPREAD A WORM WITHOUT USER INTERVENTION.

While MS products are certainly to blame for the speed that Melissa,
ILOVEYOU et al spread, it wouldn't be much different if we all used Macs and
Apple wrote an immensely power script language to bring some of the power of
the DOS batch file to their GUI. It wouldn't be different if OS/2 were the
most commonly used desktop OS in the world and one of the most popular MUAs
were scriptable from REXX. It wouldn't be any different if DOS was still
the most widespread environment and the most popular MUA for DOS could be
told to send an e-mail from the command line, a la Pegasus. Virus/worm
writers will write for the most popular software, i.e. the greatest possible
spread for less effort.
