Hello Folks:
I have recently acquired a Toshiba Satelite Pro 400 Laptop, a 75 Mhz
Pentium machine with 16 MB of RAM.
It has a Y2K patch installed that was provided by the manufacturer.
To my knowledge this machine has no other programs installed on it
other than Windows 95 and all the M$ programs that are provided with
the operating system in the M$ WIN 95 CD-rom.
Whenever I turn the machine on and boot normally to WIN 95 the
"drive active" light for my hard drive will flicker for an instant
every two seconds. This activity will continue even when I'm not
doing anything other than looking at my desktop.
If I press F8 during bootup and select "DOS - Command prompt only", then
there will be no problem of the periodically flickering "drive active"
light. Likewise there is no problem if I select booting to WIN 95 in
"safe mode". The problem occurs only whenever I boot normally to WIN 95.
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be accessing my hard drive?
How can I find out what might be going on here?
All the best,
Sam Heywood
