Thanks for the reply, pippi.

I did that. Task Manager reported three programs running: Explorer,
PFPPOP70, and SYSTRAY. (PFPPOP70 is a file from the Corel 7 Office Suite)
Using task manager I was able to end two of the tasks, but I wasn't able
to end Explorer. (I have found that Explorer is a task that normally runs
at all times in my other WIN 95 machine and it doesn't cause problems.
Anyway, Windows 95 will not let me end this task in either machine. I have
no idea why Windows 95 insists on running this program that I never use.)

I sure would like to be able to find out what is accessing my hard drive.

Also thanks for your reply concerning my PCMCIA modem. My machine did
not come with it already installed. I'll get back to you as soon as I
get around to trying to install it. First I want to solve the problem
of whatever is accessing my hard drive.

All the best,

Sam Heywood
