No problem there Sam, I don't think I have an XT keyboard anywhere. Right
now my oldest computer is a 286.
I think I've reached the point with this one that I need to pull out the
MB and use my ohmmeter to check the PS/2 port connections to the board and
see how far back I can check the connections for breaks. But there is one
other check I want to do first. I have the pin-out for the keyboard port
and it is:
1. keyboard data
2. No connection
3. Signal ground
4. Fused supply voltage
5. Keyboard clock
6. No connection
Shell
Since I did get an error "keyboard clock line failure" I expect there may
be a problem with pin 5. Anybody know what reading to expect on that pin?
Or pin 1 ? Maybe I should just ask "what's the best way to test this port?"
Powered up and read at the pins? Or just do continuity checks back through
the traces. My electronic troubleshooting skills are pretty basic. I know
voltage when I read it and I know continuity but beyond that - I don't know
much :-). Anybody want to advise me before I do some real damage? I won't
hold it against you, if I mess up. This is not a business critical
computer.
