I don't know if they totally stopped making Microchannel. IBM's RS6000
Unix line of computers used Microchannel as well. In fact I have heard
rumors that a few of the RS6K computers still use it, although, I know
RS6k uses PCI as well. IBM's Gearbox Industrial control computers used
Microchannel too.
I have also heard that the PS/2 line was IBM's most profitable line of
computers at the time. They sold loads and loads of them to the
business community. The hospital you work for, as an example :-) ISA
ended up in the home, but Microchannel ended up mainly in the
workplace.
