My source for the fate of MCA comes from Barron's 1998 edition of the
*Dictionary of Computer and Internet Terms*, where it says:
"IBM discontinued Micro Channel products in 1995 on the ground that
the PCI bus provides equal or better performance."

The "source" for my remarks about the PS/2-MCA systems was from the
hospital's IS manager -- but what does *he* know... ;-) The IS
department here treats any old MCA systems with abhorrence...
An advantage of the MCA system was its allowance for multiple CPUs,
but, of course, its bus was incompatible with other systems. If
IBM enjoyed (at least temporarily) an increase of profit from the
PS/2-MCA systems, it was rather coercive because of their existing
market dominance.
