This procedure with PTS' fdisk may help me (thanks, Bob !) with a
somewhat tricky installation on a laptop - this beast has been all-Win$
("98 Second Edition", proposterous) originallly, and some kind of
firmware in ROM which shows the Toshiba logo but bars access to the
BIOS setup. I managed to resize the Win$ partition, and to add a DOS
partition (and to give the major part of the HD to Linux) with the
help of the Mandrake-Linux install; probably this one uses some Linux-
won "fdisk". It did install LILO fine, but not with a booting
alternative to the (new) DOS partition - certainly because there is no
boot loader there of any kind: All atempt failed to put one in there
(at best, the beast would boot *only* to DOS, and that wasn't meant
at all with the exercise - as uch as I would insist on having a "real"
DOS there and not the Win$-cripple, it has to do Win$ and Linux).
