Windows 98 managed to scramble the partition table on my 20G
drive. It caused C drive to be non bootable (even to DOS after a
while) At one stage fdisk told me I had a "F@T22" partition, while
many filenames were mangled (win.com became "win! ! !.com" and
lots of weirdness like this)
So I quickly put it in a friend's computer and burnt 5 CDs of stuff
(hmm, backups, mp3s, programs, downloads...) Good thing I had
kept deleteable stuff on drive C, and everything else on other
partitions.
And then the fun began! It took several hours to just get the
harddrive able to be usable. (Partitions kept dissapearing and
reappearing and being forgotten about)
All this because it crashed while playing Quake3!
I don't want to risk it installing Linux because last time W98 had a
cow. So I might have to acquire another hdd just for linux...
But those CDs are good. Cost is very small and should last quite a
long time. :-)
