Don't get me wrong. I like a GUI-based editor for doing thinks like editing
config files and such. It's just that along with the ability to do things
like start up in single user mode to get into the heart of the beast, comes
the requiremet to work outside of a GUI environment. Just like EDIT and
EDLIN have/had their place as the itty-bitty, Swiss Army Knife screwdrivers
of editors, vi and other non-GUI editors that are common are worth knowing
the basics in.

I may give it a shake too. Just wanted to point out that "no to vi" might
warrant a caution.
