I have used it, and have used computers with it. I found it to be less
than preferrable. The browser integration in win98 comes in very handy if
you do use IE as your preferred browser. I can understand not wanting to
in win95 where it is not integrated, but in the integrated form, if you
have a constant internet connection, the web becomes a seamless part of
your computer operations. You can leap effortlessly between file browsing
to Html browsing without losing your place in the files or on the web. I
personally enjoy this feature very much.
On computers where the file browser has been replaced by the old win95
windows explorer (win98 lite) you are missing some key abilities, something
as small as being able to use your back and forward buttons to navigate
between two folders, or typing the path to a file in the address bar and
reaching it as quickly as cd c:\windows\gethere\ If you do choose the M$
product and you have the platform for it, i don't understand why politics
would encourage you to throw away this convenience! It's only 1s and 0s
anyway.
