Thanks to Diego Barizo, we now have a Spanish version of BasicLinux. It's double-dutch to me, so hopefully all the questions in Spanish will go to him rather than me. Recently the server at volny.cz has (for some unfathomable reason) been mangling the download of all .gz files. I tried uploading fresh copies of the files, but the problem remained. In the end I solved the problem by repackaging all .gz files as .tgz files. I haven't got around to replacing the .gz files at ibiblio.org (which does not mangle .gz files), but I will probably do that in the next few days. Some minor items have been added to the FAQ. As for the future, I'm thinking about basing BasicLinux 2.x on Slackware 8.1. This will vastly increase the available software for users. However, unfortunately, the much larger kernel and libraries will obsolete some older PCs. I'm not very happy about this, but it is probably inevitable. I'm still trying to think of ways around this and will probably spend the next few months experimenting with some options. But don't expect to see anything tangible before Christmas.
