Mike & others, the hotel doesn't take kindly to wires being strung all
over the place; they allow us some limited antenna activity that is
then usable in the ballroom.

As you state, unfortunately Fest members have a reputation of adding
damage to the window screens in the hotel in their enthusiasm to hang
antennas.

Many modern hotels don't even have windows that open -- all
ventilation is through the HVAC unit.

The fact that *any* useful radio reception is possible in as
electronically dense an environment as a hotel is remarkable. After
all, there aren't too many DXpeditions conducted in hotels!

As a result, our options in Room 425 are limited. It's a space the
hotel makes available to us for the weekend, and this seems to be the
best way to use it, even though it's not optimal.

How can one have a 'Listening Lounge' without some sort of antenna,
regardless of how simple it might be? I know the hotel charges an arm
and a leg for folks to poke holes in the screens, but that can't be
very popular with the staff, even if they understand why they do it.
