Uh oh, I can hear the _but_ coming a long way off! :)

Several reasons, I suppose (in no particular order).

1. I'm kind of hooked on tabletweaving but I don't have a lot of experience
or knowledge yet. Working through an algorithm like that would help a lot,
I think.

2. I'm an a addicted programmer and can't resist an intriguing challenge.
Virtually anything that can be represented by an algorithm should be
programmable, I think. I keep tinkering with my software to make it more
useful and elegant, and a reverse-engineering function for patterns would be
a very useful indeed.

3. Well, yes, I suppose it's going to help other people too. :) There must
be many more tabletweavers like me out there who can think of exactly the
pattern they'd like but can't figure out how to get to it. Trial-and-error
gets tiresome after a while.

4. Essentially, I'd like to try it because it would be fun. I think... :)

I hadn't even considered selling the software. I wrote my program for fun
and if other people find it useful, so much the better; I feel no need to
make money out of it.

Basically, what I had in mind was simply if you'd let me look at your
algorithms, I'd see whether (or rather how) I could integrate them into my
program. There shouldn't be any additional effort for you, unless of course
if I come screaming for help because I can't figure out the algorithms.

One thing that's come up with another application I've written is that I
can't hand out the complete source code. Personally I wouldn't really mind,
but some of the (rather integral) visual controls I developed in the course
of my job, so they're proprietary. Otoh, the main weaving algorithms reside
in separate classes so if someone wanted a look at those that wouldn't be a
problem.

Cheers,
Eckhard.
