I already did while testing the Thingy with a pattern and trying to
correct some errors in my turning sequence. The XMLs files are very
self-explaining and easy to understand. But I had not the time to
analyze the files more deeply - it was just a look.

Well - the design of a DTD might be some good basic work to start at.
But - huh! - I did this once as a kind of "semester work" (do not know
if there is a matching expression in english) at university and after
that I hoped never to work on such a thing again.

So we can just start the discussion with concrete topics - what do the
others think of this idea?

I propose there is first the need to describe the concepts of SGML as an
overview for all participants of the list not being computer experts
here to understand what a DTD is and what XML files are? Isn't it?
