There are, however, remains of non-brocaded medieval 6-hole weaves.  Some
are mentioned in Peter's book, and there's at least one other from Hull,
circa 1300.  All the ones I know of are threaded-in patterns.

There's at least one extant piece that was probably woven on 8-hole
tablets, the Malatesta belt.
