Here there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm for beginner's classes in 'new to them' textile techniques, but few people, if any, follow up on them. Our guild will soon have its 3rd beginners TW workshop. The previous on was only about 4 years ago (taught by Sue Palterman, list and TWIST member, and also a member of our guild). That was a good workshop, students went away feeling enthusiastic and wanted a follow-up course, but Sue's life became too busy for that. Now most of the students in that class have forgotten and they and new members need to start from the beginning again. I suspect that is a common situation, which leaves few tabletweavers interested in serious discussions that require more technical knowledge. The situation may be made worse by having 2 TW lists, but perhaps most of those interested in serious discussions are on both lists anyway? >The class on 6-holed TW barely had sufficient enrollment >to be offered, and those who attended seem to not have followed up by >undertaking actual projects -- at least to my knowledge. I assume your students were already experienced at TW, and they were enthusiastic enough to sign up for your class. Perhaps they just found they didn't really like using 6-hole tablets. My one attempt at using them (for the 6-hole exchange) was very discouraging, but I don't know how much the problems I had (mostly tension) were intrinsic to 6-hole tablets or whether if I'd been able to take your class you could have shown me how to deal with them. -- Jenny Kosarew from England mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Home Page: http://www.whorls.freeserve.co.uk Berkshire Guild Page: http://www.whorls.freeserve.co.uk/guild The Braid Society: http://www.braidsociety.org Send private reply to Jenny Kosarew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop receiving tabletweaving (not tabletweaving-digest), send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: unsubscribe tabletweaving.
