MJ did a recent commission piece that was for a belt. The client
was going to make decorative metal bits to put on the belt and
procured a bronze buckle and end. I got to fondle the buckle and
end this weekend when we delivered the tablet-woven belt. The
client was concerned about making sure the pieces came together
suitably. I suggested that she use a bit of leather as a sort of
washer to help keep things together, as well as considering using
some sort of glue (she has rabbit skin glue in hand) to keep the
band a bit more stablized where it is riveted to the heavy bits.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this comes out. She didn't want
to make a "stereotypical" leather belt (not that there is anything
wrong with leather belts, pet se), but wanted to make one from a
woven band.

yours,
Michael
