Since "inkle" just means a band, most tablet weaving is of inkles.
The word "inkle" is beginning to change its meaning to be a band woven
on a small loom designed for the weaving of narrow bands (an "inkle
loom"), but one cannot fault a museum for using the older usage of the
word. I agree that it is silly of a museum to use a word like "inkle"
though, since few of the museum goers will have any idea what it means.

It would be useful for the museum to distinguish between twined-warp
structures like tablet weaving and more conventional weave structures.
That is a distinction that the curators should be capable of, and one
that should be explained to the museum goers if there are any
tablet-woven articles on display.

Of course, that assumes that the museum is one that is interested in
educating the people who come, rather than being archivists or
entertainers. Many traditional museum curators are mainly archivists,
interested in the contents of the museum collection, but not in the
people who come to the museum. Many modern museum administrators are
mainly interested in the entertainment value of their displays---how
well they will attract people to come to the museum. Very few people
associated with museums are truly interested in the educational value
of the collections or displays.
