Looking at the Road Rules for NSW: --- 13 What is a road related area (2) However, unless the contrary intention appears, a reference in these Rules (except in this Division) to a road related area includes a reference to- ... (c) any other area that is a footpath or nature strip as defined in the Dictionary, Dictionary: footpath, except in rule 13(1), means an area open to the public that is designated for, or has as one of its main uses, use by pedestrians. --- Putting that together you get: A road related area includes a reference to any other area that is open to the public that is designated for, or has as one of its main uses, use by pedestrians.
