Trying Terry's method triggered a thought. I know those are dangerous,
but let's live on the edge for a moment. (grin)
Open the context menu and try both options: Open message in new tab and
open message in new window.
If one works better than the other here's how to eliminate another
potential problem and make the reading method that works best for you
the default when you hit Enter on a message.
1. Alt-T Tools.
2. O Options.
3. Arrow up to General and then tab down to "When Thunderbird launches
show the start page in the message area" and uncheck it if it's checked.
4. Shift-Tab back up to the list box and arrow up from general to Advanced.
5. Tab once down into the row of tab controls.
6. Arrow left/right to the Reading & Display tab. It's second from the
left after General.
7. Tab down to the "Open messages" radio button group and arrow to A new
message window or A new tab, whichever worked better for you.
8. Tab down to the OK button and hit space bar or Enter.

Tom

Hi Terry
Your problem is a little different than mine. When I used W-E 8.4 and
latest TB I did not hav e this problem. It is only with W-E 9.1.
Opening messages causes TB and W-E to freeze. And I do not use a
Braille display.

I reported a similar problem a few days ago and I still don't have an
answer. I'm using an earlier version of WindowEyes and a BrailleSense
U2 display. I have to press the context key and the down arrow key
and the enter key to open a message. Speech will read the message,
but sometimes the message won't appear on the braille display. I have
to close the message and try again.
Please, someone, figure out something.

Hi Jim
I don't have an issue with deleting only when I try to open a message in
Thunderbird. For now I reply to a message in order to read it. Sometimes
a short message or one from QVC is readable by opening the message, but
since things freeze so easily I haven't tested every possibility.
I have turned off AVG, opened a message with W-E 9.1 turned off.
Thunderbird does NOT lock up or freeze on its own.
Opening a message in plain text doesn't make a difference.
I have cleared my cash in TB and it is set as high as it will go.
I have tried to read emails with and without TB enhanced with no change
- always freezzes when I try to open an email.
**With W-E 9.1 running and a message freezing in TB, I force a close
with ALT F4.
I do not use the preview pane.
When I re-open TB, I have to turn the preview pain OFF using F8.
**When I access the W-E control panel and check the version it says 9.1
BUT when I go to the website it says I'm using W-E 9.0.
I'm trying to just leave it until Monday, but it is driving me nuts. I'm
a scairty cat when it comes to uninstalling programs, but am wondering
if I should try uninstalling and reinstalling W-e 9.1. I have done
updates since Window eyes 7 without any uninstalls.
Thanks for any help/input.

I have a problem with the delete key, I press the context menu key and
arrow down to delete and this always works. Cany you shead a bit more

Brenda, I regretfully can't offer you any solution to your issue,
because I'm having exactly the same problem when deleting messages
from my inbox. It doesn't happen every time, only intermittenly. I
was just hoping that someone can kill two peoples problems with one
solution, if at all possible.

good morning
Thank you Tom and Larry for the info on copying and pasting a link
for converting youtube to mp3. I will follow your instructions and
check out songr (?) once I can read your emails without Thunderbird
freezing.
I can open and start to read an email, but when i tap the arrow or
other key to silence speech and arrow around, thunderbird freezes,
Window Eyes quits speaking and alt-tab doesn't work. When I am
finally able to ALT-F4 to close T-bird things work again, BUT when I
re-open T-Bird I have to use the numpad mouse to get to my inbox and
then I have to ALT F8 to get rid of the reading pain.
fortunately, I am able to type this email with T-bird and I can read
emails on my iPhone, but I would really like to get this issue fixed.
win 7-64, W-E 9.1 latest Thunderbird, AVG security
(malware bytes and spybot are run manually)
Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this would be greatly
appreciatexd.
thanks
