Hi,
The notepad set should already do this.  You should not need to do anything
accept press home or end.  Then it will read the information you are asking
for.

In Notepad, under "format", do you have word wrap checked or unchecked?

I use Notepad all of the time, with word wrap checked.
After I press the home key, or the end key, I usually use the right and left
arrow keys to confirm the first and last characters...
