Does jaws work with dec-talk express and the Alva braille controller?
Specifically, when using window eyes with the Alva, I found that it would
start working, then when I would do various things like go into websites and
different things, it would just die. I'd look at my braille display and see
nothing. I'd have to restart the computer to get it working again. Pam.

Matthew,
I wanted to formally address this question. You can install JAWS on as many
computers as you need. We give you 3 keys but will reset and are very
understanding to this sort of thing. As long as you are not reformatting
your computers, you should not be losing keys.
As for the work question with a network, we routinely do this also for
people that need to set up a license server with 1 or 2 keys for their use
only. We don't advertise this but something we make available with cost,
upon request.
Regards,
Doug

Subject: Re: Window-Eyes to JAWS Migration
My question is: On how many computers can we install JAWS? The reason I
ask is that I use three computers - a virtual machine on a MacBook Pro, my
desktop, and a new laptop. Under Window-Eyes, as long as we adhered to
their licensing requirements, we could have as many installs as we needed.
With the new JAWS, that may not be the case. In that instance, I have
issues about migrating. Worse, still, if a computer crashes, and we've gone
through our allotted installs, I will not pay for another brand-new copy.
This kind of "too bad, so sad" response has the prospect of generating
customer bad will.
Another example of the licensing issue appeared when I was working for the
state. I needed to have eight PC's on a network running Window-Eyes. As
long as I didn't run them all with WE at the same time, I only needed one
copy. With an install limitation via JAWS, the state would have had to pay
out more money, a disincentive for hiring us.
Just my thoughts.--Matthew Chao

You don’t even have to uninstall Window-Eyes. It will happily co-exist
with Jaws. Just decide which one you want to autostart and bring up the
other whenever you want it. Don’t know how long app central and the other
Web services will be around, but, if Window-Eyes does what you want for
the present, you will not be compelled to just stop using it.
I, myself, will try to get my funds together to upgrade, but, I do not
feel an urgency to start using Jaws right away.

Need clarity on one thing. As an current paid user of WE, if we
convert to JAWS, does that mean we no longer can use WE?

Thank you for being a valued member of the GW Micro and Window-Eyes
family.
We regret to announce that sales of Window-Eyes have ended in the
United States and Canada. Users outside of the United States and
Canada should contact their local distributor for options. We are
committed to our customers and will honor existing product purchases
and software maintenance agreements, and we will continue to provide
technical support to end users that have purchased Window-Eyes or a
support package.
All users who are currently using Window-Eyes can continue to use the
software indefinitely; however, as the Windows® operating system
and/or applications change over time, Window-Eyes may not function
adequately for your needs.
We understand how important a screen reader is to you and are offering
JAWS® for Windows 18 as a replacement. We are committed to providing a
smooth transition and will honor existing Window-Eyes product
purchases and software maintenance agreements (SMA), as follows.
. End users that paid for and are current with Window-Eyes 9.x will be
converted to JAWS 18 at no charge.
. If you are using an earlier version of Window-Eyes, you can purchase
an upgrade to JAWS 18.
. If you are using the free version of Window-Eyes you can continue to
use it. While there is not an upgrade path from the free version, if
you are interested in purchasing JAWS, please contact our sales team
at 800-444-4443.
. Existing Window-Eyes SMAs will be rolled into the JAWS SMA program
for end users that migrate to JAWS.
Learn more about the migration options and pricing by visiting
http://www.gwmicro.com/window-eyes/migrate.
To make this process as easy as possible, we ask you to complete a
