My original teacher and current jam buddy recalls the day he picked up his two for one sale. He purchased two Loars from a guy in Chicago had them shipped to California where he was living. He was in such a hurry that he sliced his pointer finger open along with the box. He had a gig that night and had to learn that on the fly. He said it sucked but improved his playing for the years to come.
