For me, The Bat!'s Mail Dispatcher is all but useless. I usually
download emails only once a day, mostly at 7 in the evening. There are
usually around 400 messages waiting.

I'd like list members to correct me if I'm wrong: but not only is
there no option to select, in the Mail Dispatcher, let's say, 250 out
of the 400 pending messages -- but likewise is there no option (at
least on my system) to order these messages according to the sender's
name, or according to time, or size, or subject?

Whenever I click on the respective column headings in the Mail
Dispatcher, nothing happens. The 400 posts remain as they are, that
is, all mixed up.

The only reasonable thing that remains, then, is to download all 400
of them at the same time, and let the filters tackle them.

As a dial-up user, so far I've found no use whatsoever for the Mail
Dispatcher... Although the gadget seems to have been *invented* for
people who'd like to save unnecessary download times...
