Nick, I have not been able to Post to the lists for days now, because I could only send from a webmail site on which my return name&address was different from the one I use for the TB! mailing lists. Since I hoped the situation would not be permanent, I did not want to make a change on the mailing lists--I hated not being able to write using TB! Now I think the inability to Send SMTP is solved, by setting up a new account in TB!, using the domain numbers rather than domain name of my server. I can now Send from that account. It's complicated--I'll describe further if anyone wants to hear--but essentially (as telnet showed) the SMTP server's domain configuration cache became corrupted, either on my machine or at my ISP. However, the situation is such that I can only receive (POP3) through my really-old POP server, vipdirect.net, with that old user name and password. When I try to reconfigure the old account, TB! will not let me change that old password. In the new account, the POP server has to be configured to the same domain as the SMTP, or the SMTP won't work. In the old account, apparently because the POP password can't be changed, I can't send using my correct SMTP server's numbers. SO: I create a Reply window, with quoted message in old account Mary Bull. Then I create a New message window in new account marybull. Then I c&p message body, subject:, and to: fields to the New window. I proceed in the New window to my answer, and from marybull I'm able to Send. Of course, I hate this. And it's probably messing up everyone's threading as well as Replies. I will try out Any Ideas!! I have learned to keep careful handwritten notes so I can backtrack from anything that doesn't work. Just call me Mary-the-Perpetual-E-mail-Using-Beginner! Sorry for any difficulties I'm causing any of you on tbudl. -- Best regards, Mary The Bat! 2.00.6 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 1
