Received the message via the list server and the copy cc'd to myself
this time.

Guess what - the one via the list server has
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

while the other says
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-15
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
