I've been a manager for more than 20 years, so I'd have to say it's been a large part of my career path. I always loved it. I get a big sense of satisfaction from hiring someone, giving them good challenging projects, and seeing them succeed. I've got people who worked for me years ago who are still in touch and still in TechDoc.
I also kept my hand in - I always had at least one hands-on writing project to do (even if it was only release notes). I found it important to have to jump through the same hoops as the writers so that I could identify with - and fix if necessary - the procedural and administrative problems they had to deal with to get something done. Now I'm a freelancer, and I like that too! My 2ยข, John Garison Lisa M. Bronson (TCP) wrote: > So, where are you at in your technical communication career? Are you in > management?
