Anything you post to any list can influence a hiring decision. Good managers are hard to find, though so are good technical writers. Not all good writers will make good managers, and the reverse is also true. The biggest mistake a company can make is promoting their best and brightest staff to management as the "next step" in their career. The person needs to have the skills and desire for management and be able to let go of the "ownership" over the technical writing domain expertise.
