Have you looked on Ebay? I just did a search for Acrobat 6 and found a
number of auctions. Because that's an older version, I bet you could
pick up a copy for a lot less than $500.<

To add to Kevin's comment...if you buy a copy of Acrobat 6 and the seller is
still using that license for their version 7 upgrade, you may not be able to
use your copy of version 6 to upgrade to version 8. ALSO...Acrobat 6 is
really buggy compared to Acrobat 8. You might be buying a lot more problems
than you care to deal with.
