Let's see if I can answer all the questions that just came in. Andy-The printer share on the server is what cannot be accessed. Ben-No, I cannot access any shares on the server. And yes, it does appear that the Win 7 machine is connecting directly to the printer via its IP address. Dana-I cannot ping the IP of the printer (no responses)
I have made sure that all the users on the server have the correct rights to the printer share on the server, but still no one can access it. On a side note, don't you all love inheriting someone elses problem, and then are expected to solve it without any prior knowledge of what was done before you took over? In a week or so, they are getting a new server, onto which I will be installing SME. Maybe that will solve all their printing woes!!! This is really confusing me. I was told that this happened after a Windows Update, but for the life of me I cannot figure out what happened to kill it. From what I have read online, there is no way to roll back a Windows Update. They have a Ricoh MP C4000 printer/copier that is connected to their network. They have Windows server 2003 as their server. They have Windows XP on their workstations, and one Windows 7 machine. I was told that after a recent update, all the Windows XP machines stopped printing. The Windows 7 machine prints just fine. I have taken a look their server, and their workstations, and I can see what the issue is, but I am lost as to how to fix it. All the machines can see the server, but none of them can connect to it. I have checked user accounts, permissions, etc, and all looks good. What confuses me is how the Windows 7 machine works just fine and can print at will, but nothing else will. > > If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I would appreciate it. > > > William Upp > Technology Coordinator > Computer and Business Instructor > Scott-Morgan School District #2 (Bluffs Schools) > | Subscription info at http://www.tech-geeks.org | > | Subscription info at http://www.tech-geeks.org | | Subscription info at http://www.tech-geeks.org | | Subscription info at http://www.tech-geeks.org | | Subscription info at http://www.tech-geeks.org |
