Jim,
Well said. I do believe the issues of guns and violence is a very
complex issue that does not lend itself to bumper sticker solutions or
30 second sound bites. Also a possible solution for Chicago may not be
appropriate for Ajo, AZ. I wish our leaders of all political stripes
would do more thinking and rational discussion on this and many more
important issues than grandstanding. Too much to hope for I am afraid.

We also had boxing and wrestling in PE. As for the talk of people who
want to use their "second amendment rights" if the election does not
come out their way, I heard a "news" story yesterday about someone
advocating just that.
But as far as the Texas shooting situation, if that kid had not had
such easy access to guns then the shooting would not have taken
place. I am just thankful that he did not kill anyone except
himself. What is most upsetting about this situation is its proximity
to the bell tower where a sniper killed 16 (I think it was 16) people
in the 80's in what is thought to be the first of the now far to
frequent campus shooting sprees.

Jim,
I agree with your sentiment but I would add that there are some
countries with more guns per capita than the US. We seem to want to
shoot or bomb those we disagree with. Remember the talk a few months
ago from people who wanted to use their " Second Amendment rights' if
the November election does not turn out in their favor? To show how
ancient I am, when I was in HS we had boxing and wrestling in P.E. We
shook hands after a match and we better not show any poor
sportsmanship. My very humble opinion.

Too many guns that are too easily accessible to too many people... I
know that opinion does not sit well with many on this list, but it
is my opinion.
Personally, when I was that age I would not have had any idea of how
to get my hands on a weapon like that. Now it is as easy as going to
your nearest heavy arms dealer - and they are everywhere.

Glad your son is safe.
I can’t figure out when it became necessary to grab a gun and start
shooting innocent people when we get our little feelings hurt or
when we don’t make the team, etc… People need to just “cowboy up”
and get over it. Jeez.
