Up here north of the 49th we are going through a lot of teeth-gnashing over
our national long-gun registry where costs have gone out of control. This
came about as a result of the PolyTechnique school shootings in Montreal
years ago - still a hot-button issue.

Jim,

Well said. I do believe the issues of guns and violence is a very
complex issue that does not lend itself to bumper sticker solutions or 30
second sound bites. Also a possible solution for Chicago may not be
appropriate for Ajo, AZ. I wish our leaders of all political stripes would
do more thinking and rational discussion on this and many more important
issues than grandstanding. Too much to hope for I am afraid.
