I looked at several tools, and many of them are great for
administrators. But for clients (staff, faculty, students) they were
all too complicated or gave them access to too many attributes.

So I built my own using Ruby on Rails and Active LDAP. This way I can
control which attributes people have access too and validate them as
well.
