Like I said, it is rich in features, and also in price. Since all you’re doing
is effectively agreeing with me, what was your point? I have no issue with the
rich feature set and it is true that other competing device manufacturers would
do well to look at implementing some of these or releasing their API’s to
external developers so that they can produce the apps. I have discussed with
Humanware the possibility of them opening up the closed doors a little for a
future release of KeySoft.

However, I have to agree with Jackie to a large degree. People such as myself
are using laptops and other devices for DropBox and other access protocols. I
am in great need of a note taker, a planner,/diary/calendar and a hugely
configurable database which I can carry around with me. I now have all of
those things, thanks to the Apex, which has improved radically actually since
the release of KeySoft 9.3.1. Many more browsing commands have been added, for
instance, to KeyWeb. The only really bad side of Apex is its appalling mail
client and I have already recruited one member of HumanWare’s staff to my
mini-campaign to have them do a rewrite, or let somebody else do it. KeyMail
is fine when it comes to editing. But its lack of modern-day protocols is just
inexcusable. I speak as somebody with no axe to grind either against HumanWare
or the producers of other competing devices. But you know, those of us who
need these portable tools for work reasons won’t be too worried about the lack
of DropBox access.

I am proud actually that I have won myself a position within an educational
establishment where I can really make a difference. My job title was given to
me by the local authority, (I didn’t pick it), so that I could identify myself
as one of their employees as of this week.

Anyway, back to the point. KeyBase has to be one of the most powerful and
configurable databases which also offer full accessibility, that I have ever
seen. In fact, it is more powerful in many ways than either Bento® for Mac, or
even FileMaker Pro.

You can create custom databases for just about any application. The supplied
ones themselves are great example to work from.

But as Jackie says, if Braille support for other devices is all you need then
it’s a little silly paying out all that money for a notetaker of any kind.
Before Access To Work got me my Apex, I was using an old
Baum/Humanware/Supervario display. It has no longer USB connectivity because
it met with an accident. But it still works via Bluetooth and works well on
the PC for which I have it configured.

Kind regards

Just no pleasing some people <smile>.

The price is a little steep however its the only machine of its type I know of
to truly offer facilities designed for the deaf-blind which makes a difference,
an example of this is the in-built Vibrating alert system, I've been wondering
for quite some time why we've not had something like this in the past in PDA'S
designed for the blind.
