Trusted friends and advisors,I think it is time to replace my home use Thinkpad. When I retired 5 years ago I replaced my company T-22 with a refurb T-22. It is now running a little short in the horsepower department with regards to Youtube video on email attachments and other processor intensive activities. I use the Office Suite with Outlook. Sync my smartphone with Outlook. Use Photoshop Essentials. Also the lack of a usb 2.0 port without using a PC-Card is getting to be a problem. My peripheral devices are mostly USB-2 with an occasional firewire device. I do have a Firewire PC-Card for that purpose if necessary. I really like having a removable CD/DVD drive and the use of a hard drive caddy for fast disk cloning backups. If I go with a Vista based machine I think I want to be able to upgrade to Windows 7 or go back to XP Pro. My question. For home use as described above and recognizing that there are many options outside of the Lenovo/IBM world could anyone give some advice between finding a T-4x refurb a T-6x refurb or a new model by number as a replacement. I would greatly appreciate your help. I don't want to get into a situation with proprietary hard drives, etc. Thanks, TT
