It's really a hit or miss, and has been for a while now...parts availability is the key factor. I honestly don't know how the stock of T500 replacement parts stands, but I'd take my chances.
I've had a screen replaced within a matter of three business days, but had to wait for a planar for almost two weeks, with quite a few phone calls and escalations...this was within the past six months on two different ThinkPads...
