Been a couple years since I had to EZServ one for a backlight or inverter
turned out to be the system board... I got the same thing... "x days yadda
yadda" but fortunately it came back home in about 3 days. The repair was
great... getting' to it was a nightmare though!!!

Subject: [Thinkpad] EZ Serv

My wife's T500 (about 14 months old) has been exhibiting some strange
problems:

1) Every so often the screen will go dim as if the machine had been
unplugged. After a couple of seconds, it goes back to full brightness. This
occurs without any user interaction, and is not related to a screen saver,
as the machine may have been active just seconds before; nor is it related
to actual power issues, as it occurs with different power bricks, and other
machines plugged into the same circuit do not exhibit the behavior.

2) Possibly related: when the machine is unplugged, it will often report
that the battery is almost dead, but after a few seconds, goes back to 100%
battery. I've swapped the battery with a known-good battery from another
machine, and the problem continues.

She was living with those, as she's loathe to give up the machine. but
recently the fan started going.

So yesterday I called EZ Serv, got the usual coherent help. The only sour
note is that both the rep and the email I got from them this morning (!) say
repairs can take 6 business days.

Does anyone else have recent enough experience to say whether that's just
hedging bets, or if the old 3-day turnaround is gone?
