Thanks Stuart, those are good points to check.

1) The router has current firmware (v1.79 from 2007)

2) The AC software is 2nd-most current, v5.50 when the latest is
v5.61. I try not to update when nothing relevant is listed in the
release notes, e.g. a long list of new models supported.

There are a few fixes in v5.61 that don't appear to be significant,
but the notes also list 3 items:
# (Fix) Fixed for Microsoft WER 1552164693.
# (Fix) Fixed for Microsoft WER 1545157154.
# (Fix) Fixed for Microsoft WER 1454627032.

I googled WER 1552164693 and all the results are for AC release notes!
Shouldn't there be _something_ from an MS page? I see WER is "Windows
Error Reporting" but even searching just the number doesn't bring up a
non-AC page. In any case, since I'm getting Errors in Event Viewer
related to AC, I'll update this.

For the drivers, I went with ThinkVantage (TV) System Update. That
should catch them all, right? SU brings up 6 Recommended and
6 Optional updates. I decided to take a chance and update even those
that only add new supported models. I'll do the same on the T41p when
it's available and rebootable.

3) I hunted through the menus and found a "Static DHCP" (sounds like
it deserves a "[sic]" for that) setting. It has room for 10 entries so
I'll use it for the two notebooks and the ATA, which are the 3 things
likely to be carried to other networks (the ATA less than the
ThinkPads, obviously).

I'm still concerned that these dynamic IP addresses bouncing around
might be a problem with the router, but I'll see what using Static
DHCP addresses does (it may not fix the problem but just avoid it,
which is 3/4 of the battle :).

Thanks again!
