Thanks all, so the battle plan is:
1) use ProduKey to get the license key that is now worn off the bottom of my X61s 2) get Microsoft's Win7 update disc 3) boot from the Win7 update disc and perform a clean 64bit install to the new drive -- i should only need the key from step #1 to complete the activation (or, if not, Microsoft should activate it via a call). 4) use Lenovo's System Update to update the X61s drivers for 64bit Win7 Is that about right? Just curious: Is there some sort of USB chassis I can get for the drive? For example, can I put the new drive in a USB chassis, install Win7 to it there, boot it from there, and if all is ok, swap drives? Or does it not work that way? _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
