This would have been easier to answer 3 days ago when the box was still sitting in the living room. It just passed its statute of limitations, and has been disappeared by the powers that be. Most Thinkpad parts and accessories I buy refurbished do have an orange "refurbished" tag on them, I don't recall seeing that this time.

The box was a genuine ThinkPad box, though the inside packaging had clearly been redone. The model number is 2522-23U, I don't know if this is different from what it was originally.

I do understand that there are different sources for refurbished ThinkPads...

Now you got me curious.

Do machines you're referring to have orange refurb tags on the bottom and a changed letter in the 7-character model number?

Cheers,

George

> There is *no* warranty extension available for Lenovo's refurbished units
> from Outlet. One year and that's it.
>
> This policy has been in effect for over a year now.

The Outlet is not the only source for factory-refurbished ThinkPads, nor has
it ever been best w/r to warranty.

Our most recent refurbished unit (from an authorized Lenovo dealer) still
shows over 800 days on the warranty. We had the option at purchase to
upgrade the warranty even further.
