That's where this stuff gets complicated...

You'd actually be buying a post-warranty care package which costs about double 
from what the warranty extension on a non-Outlet unit would cost...

They could try to word it differently, but that's what it comes down to.

I was told by a rep in the Lenovo warranty department that I could buy a  
warranty extension for an Outlet ThinkPad I bought recently, but that I  
could only buy it *after* the one-year warranty had expired. Was the rep  
wrong?
