Robert, I don't mind the island-style. That would work just fine.
However, the 6-row keyboard is a non-starter. I've been using ThinkPads since the 600 series and have never witnessed such a drastic change in the layout on the *real* ThinkPads. I'll keep my existing collection of old units but the next machine that gets purchased will not be another ThinkPad. If I have to get used to a different layout, I'm jumping ship and moving to HP where I'll get an inferior keyboard combined with a vastly superior LCD - I'm talking about IPS-equipped EliteBooks here, not any other models. All jokes aside, it hurts. You might, if possible, find one to try before you give up on Thinkpads. Just a thought. ________________________________________ Robert Rosen Senior IT Advisor National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases National Institutes of Health US Department of Health and Human Services Tel: 301-451-6525 E-Mail: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> NIH … Turning Discovery into Health Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail >Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2012 17:48:36 -0400 (EDT) >From: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [Thinkpad] The new Ivy Bridge (Gen 3) laptops from Lenovo >To: [email protected] >Cc: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] > >That "fix" just cost them a set of loyal customers in this household. > >Leaving the ThinkPadLand after 13 years, likely for good. > >Cheers, > >George _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
