Hello As I am one the people who has bought the OO Report Designer I am following the post with great interest.
In relation to the point made regarding the publicly raised amount displayed, one needs to wonder.... How accurate is this graph? I've bought this app Nov. 23rd, it has not moved since. For me personally it is not so important to score free modules, for me it is more important that it should work. After spending EUR 500 this is what I got. 1. Ordered OOReport Designer 23.11.07. Received in my inbox Saturday morning Australian time. 2. Was unable to install the app properly in OO. Wasted the whole weekend in trying to get the app going. No luck. It worked at times and when creating rml files > save to it froze my machine. I only could kill the PC and reboot. Tested on three machines, all had similar problems. On SuSE 10.0 and OO2.0 it did not install at all. Fields to enter data like admin and your password did not work properly. The curser did not respond and no data could be entered. 3. On Tuesday 27.11.07 I got a revised version of the OOReport Designer. But unfortunately also with this version, fields to enter data did not work properly. I could not enter admin and my password. Random clicking was required for the curser eventually jump in. The OOReport Designer also did not safe server parameter and login details like admin. To this given day, it still does not. 4. Once I got to enter data, it appeared that I could not modify an existing report. When selecting my database and click on modify an exiting report, a window is supposed to come up where one can select a report. Unfortunately, with my database, it does not. Why, who knows. Running tinyerp-server.py form shell does not show any errors. I created my database with eTiny1.0rc1 and work in a multi company environment. A current work around is to have a test database setup, briefly connect, then disconnect and then I am able to connect to mine. The problem with this workaround is the connection can last for sometime or terminate right away. So when you work on a report and have modified it, I am running the risk that I cannot send it to the server because the connection is lost. I could export it to rml but here I am running the risk that it still freezes the desktop. At least now, I can kill the desktop with, Ctrl, Alt and Backspace and do not have to reboot. 5. On Thursday 29.11 I received a further revised version. The data entry fields are now working. Apparently the OOReport Designer also should safe the sever parameter and login details when closing OO. But it does not. After having spent EUR 500 and having received 3 OOReport Designer revisions I still have the following problems: 1. Unable to connect to my Database. Need to apply workaround, connect to test database, drop connection, connect to my database. 2. Duration of connection unknown. OOReport Designer may work of ½ an hour or drop connection right away. Unable to send to server 3. Unable to close OO after the OOReport Designer has worked for a while. Can close OO only with xkill 4. Export to rml and save to can freeze the desktop 5. Modify button does not work 7. OOReport Designer does not save sever parameters and login settings. 6. Documentation unclear. How to change line spacing, ad lines e.g. underlining of total sum etc. No info provided. I am not sure if others have similar problems or not. However these are the issues I am having. I have tested OOReport Designer on three different machines. openSUSE 10.3 Desktop, openSUSE 10.3 Laptop, SuSE 10.0 laptop with OO2.0 All have the same problems. I 've got it now for more than one week. I have managed to edit one invoice. I have gone back to edit the rml manually. But try to edit a rml file producted by the OOReport Designer with vi..... Lucky I've got the reports from 4.1.1. Thats my 5c worth. Cheers Norbert _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman/listinfo/tinyerp-users
