I understand the need to be profitable. It's a legitimate objective.

But the power of FOSS is its openness, not merely for sources, but for 
development also. It has nothing to do with philantropy, it's about fostering a 
development ecosystem, to make a long-living and sustainable product. You get 
more developers, more bug solvers, more support givers and finally more 
satisfaction on the client side. Tiny has nothing to fear, their knowledge is 
already unvaluable!
 
There are many business models around, some more successful than others. But 
until now, the way to go seems to be: open largely the product and make profit 
with services (bug solving, support, consulting, training, ...).
