I agree with the concern, obviously, but I really don't think that we
"tolerated" him. Several TIPSters call him on it each time he does it. That
obviously will have to continue to happen. The "just delete his posts if you
don't like them" advice is unhelpful, for exactly this reason that Gary
raises.
As I was out walking this morning <grin> I thought of a little thought
experiment: imagine that you came to this list and found that ALL of the
posts were Sylvester-like ones. I imagine that almost all of us would have
immediately unsubscribed. Of course the same thing may happen if someone
comes to the list in the middle of one of these discussions about certain
TIPSters,. which is why I think it's probably far better to just laugh at
Sylvester's posts than to try to take them on point-by-point (think
"steel-jacketed bullets passing through fog"). Let's just have as many
laughs as we can, remind people that Sylvester is not a psychology teacher,
but that he lied about that for years, and move on.

We've had exactly that problem, and the student was dismissed
permanently. She did not appeal the decision.
